Inside, it contains ion-exchange resin that replaces hardness ions with safe sodium ions, preventing scale buildup on heating elements, plumbing, and kitchenware. The Aqualite HARD20BB cartridge is installed in 20" Big Blue housings after a mechanical pre-filter. It is used in private homes, apartments, cafés, laundries, hotels, or before reverse osmosis systems. Maintenance

The cartridge should be replaced after its capacity is reached or every 3–6 months, depending on water quality. It should not be regenerated manually, as the ion-exchange resin gradually loses effectiveness.
